Research Studies at FINBB Member Biobanks
Arctic Biobank studies
The Northern Finland Birth Cohort (NFBC) studies is an epidemiological and longitudinal research program which aims to promote health and well-being of the population. The prospective data collected from Northern Finland forms a unique resource, allowing to study the emergence of diseases which can be based on genetic, biological, social or behavioral risk factors. Studies utilizing the Northern Finland Birth Cohorts (NFBCs) have generated over a thousand scientific publications.
Auria Biobank studies
You can view both published and on-going research studies at Auria Biobank either by year or by disease group. The majority of the studies are focused on oncology.
Biobank Borealis studies
You can view both published and on-going research studies at Biobank Borealis of Northern Finland by year. Studies can be found comprehensively in various disease groups and in projects utilizing Finnish Maternity Cohort (FMC) data.
Helsinki Biobank studies
The vast collections of Helsinki Biobank enable studies for a wide range of research questions. Published and ongoing studies that have utilized the Biobank's collections can be browsed by disease area.
Biobank of Eastern Finland studies

FinnGen publications
FinnGen is a nationwide biobank research project that utilizes samples from almost all Finnish biobanks for genetic analysis. FinnGen combines genomic information from 500,000 Finns (by 2023) with digital healthcare data from national registers. The goal is to identify genotype-phenotype correlations in the Finnish founder population to deepen our understanding about the origins of diseases. You can find all the published and preprint scientific publications utilizing FinnGen data on their website.
